It offers a dedicated mobile app, many sports and betting markets, a wide range of banking options (including Interac), and solid bonuses and promotions. The site is well designed and simple to navigate, and the separate live betting section is impressive.

There are some things we were not thrilled about, such as only having 14 days to fulfill the 5x wagering requirement on the welcome offer, no live streaming, and there are not many player prop bets.

In Ontario, TonyBet is licensed and regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, operating under an agreement with iGaming Ontario, and in Alberta by Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC). The sports betting platform is still available for players from every other province with a Kahnawake Gaming Commission licence.

We rigorously tested TonyBet to show you all of the important aspects of the betting platform. Overall, we gave it a rating of 4.3 out of 5; keep reading to see how we arrived at this rating.

Bonus & Promotions

TonyBet has a wide range of bonuses and promotions, and they are always adding new and exciting ones. The first thing you should know is that promotions differ depending on whether the site is provincially regulated in Ontario and Alberta or regulated by an offshore body.

For the provincially regulated sites, the welcome offer is up to $100 in a bonus bet with a minimum deposit of $20. The bonus bet that you get can only be used on parlays with three or more legs.

For the offshore site with a minimum deposit of $20, you can get a bonus bet up to $350.

Both the provincial and offshore TonyBet sites offer boosted odds, same game parlays, a loyalty program, and the cashout feature. Both provincial sites offer two pick ’em promos, and the offshore site offers two forecast promos. These are where, if you make deposits for a certain amount or have a turnover of a certain amount, you get to make picks for a share of a significant prize pool.

There is also a welcome bonus and others for existing players at the TonyBet casino.

Players can also find a good array of seasonal offers for sports that are in season. For example, at the time of writing, it is the end of the summer, and there is a Major League Baseball offering a risk-free bet if your bet on a baseball game is a losing one.

TonyBet welcome bonus and promotions

While both provincial and offshore platforms offer a good range of bonuses, the wagering requirement issue persists. For the welcome offer, you have 14 days to fulfill a 5x wagering requirement, and the offshore site has a reload offer with a 25x wagering requirement that must be fulfilled in only seven days. That is the main drawback, but there are some good prompts with reasonable terms and conditions, and with that and all the offers available, we rated this section a 4 out of 5.

Rating 4 / 5

Sports coverage & betting markets

TonyBet offers many sports to bet on and has plenty of betting markets. The site offers competitive odds on popular and niche sports and has strong coverage of top leagues popular with Canadian players, such as the NHL, CFL, NBA, MLB, and NFL.

When it comes to betting markets, TonyBet has them all. You will find moneylines, spreads, totals, proposition bets, futures, parlays, and more. The bigger the sport and league, the more betting options are available. So, for an NHL game, there are over 100 betting options, while there may be only a few for a volleyball match.

One thing we found in our research for this TonyBet review is that while there are more overall bets for bigger leagues, there are not as many prop bets. For example, for a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game, we found over 200 bets available. Most were total bet varieties, and while they did offer player prop bets, they didn’t offer as many categories as other top Canadian sportsbooks.

It was nice, though, that we found quite a few games with boosted odds, especially for the aforementioned popular leagues. So, if you like to bet on teams from Canada, from the Toronto Blue Jays to the Toronto Raptors, from those in the MLS and NHL, chances are you will find boosted odds for those games from time to time.

The live betting section is solid, with an adequate number of betting markets, but it would have been nice to see a live streaming option.

TonyBet betting markets and same game parlay

We gave this section a 4, as the number of sports and betting markets is solid; the lack of player props and no live streaming was a bit of a downer.

Rating 4.5 / 5

Odds quality

We always check odds quality to see how the sportsbooks we review stack up against others. We see whether the odds are comparable and whether the sportsbook undercuts popular betting markets.

During our testing, we picked a Toronto Blue Jays vs. Kansas City Royals game to compare their odds to two other Canadian sportsbooks.

Sportsbook Toronto Blue Jays Kansas City Royals Total
TonyBet +100 (2.00) -125 (1.80) 9.5 runs
Sports Interaction +100 -120 9.5 runs
Betway +100 -120 9.5 runs

TonyBet MLB odds board

In the game above, the odds are comparable, and we found the same for a few other games with the same spread in the CFL.

We did not find any undercutting of popular markets, and with the competitive odds on par with other top Canadian sportsbooks, we rated this section a 4.5 out of 5.

Rating 4.25 / 5

Payment methods

Payment methods will differ depending on whether you are playing the offshore-regulated version or the provincially regulated versions in Ontario and Alberta. One similarity, which should be good news for Canadian players, is that Interac is accepted on both versions of the sports betting platform.

The provincially regulated sites have far fewer banking options, mainly because they do not accept cryptocurrencies. The offshore version accepts several cryptocurrencies with a faster processing time of 24 hours. For all other banking methods, processing takes up to 48 hours.

The minimum deposit and withdrawal is $10, and all deposit times are instant. Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards are accepted at both versions. The only other option at provincial versions is MuchBetter, and while that is also accepted at the offshore site, they also offer other options such as Neosurf and MiFinity.

How quickly you are paid out depends on the payment option you use. Cryptos and Interac offer the fastest payout times, followed by eWallets, while credit card payouts can take up to seven days. In our testing, we used Interac and were paid out in a little over two days from making the request.

TonyBet payment methods including Interac

Payout times were a little faster at TonyBet than at other Canadian sportsbooks. We liked that the minimum deposit and withdrawal was only $10 and that the offshore version offers a good range of payment options, including crypto. However, because the provincial sites offer limited options, the rating dropped slightly to 4.25.

Rating 4.5 / 5

Mobile experience

TonyBet has a mobile application for iOS and Android users. The app is simple to use, with a good interface and easy navigation. It is simple to switch from pre-match to live betting, and in our testing we did not encounter any glitches, but we also did not find any mobile-specific promotions.

We tested three things through our mobile devices and were impressed with all three. First, the live betting was solid, allowing us to make bets quickly, which is key since the odds change so fast. Second, we made a small Interac withdrawal request, and while it took a few hours longer to pay out, it wasn’t much longer than when we used the desktop version. Lastly, we had no problem getting in touch with a representative using live chat.

TonyBet mobile app

The app has a good rating on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, and we can see why. Overall, the mobile experience was very good, which is why we gave it a rating of 4.5.

Rating 4.5 / 5

Licensing & security

As stated before, the site is licensed and regulated by the Ontario Gaming Board of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, operating under an agreement with iGaming Ontario in Ontario and the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) in Alberta. The Kahnawake Gaming Commission licenses and regulates the sports betting platforms in all other provinces.

TonyBet uses the latest SSL encryption security measures to protect its players’ personal and financial information. These measures are detailed in the Privacy Policy link as is information on all data collected.

Like other Canadian sportsbooks, at TonyBet, before your first withdrawal, or for withdrawals that are for significant amounts of money, you will have to complete the KYC process. You will need to provide copies of a government-issued ID, as well as proof of address such as a recent utility bill or bank statement. Once you provide these things, the KYC process is typically completed in less than 24 hours.

One way TonyBet stands out is its extensive responsible gambling tools and information. There are session limits, time limits, and loss limits. It also offers self-exclusion and time-outs. Both the provincially and offshore regulated versions have links to responsible gambling organizations, such as ConnexOntario, and a ton of information about the important issue.

We gave this section a rating of 4.5 out of 5.

Rating 4.25 / 5

Customer support

TonyBet can be reached 24/7 via live chat and email. The first thing we checked was live chat, and after entering a name and email address, we chatted with a representative at 9 AM EST. They answered our inquiries promptly and knew what they were talking about, as we asked them a few Interac and withdrawal questions.

We also emailed support and got a response in a little less than a day. There is no phone support, but that is typical of many Canadian sportsbooks.

It was nice to get hooked up with a knowledgeable agent so quickly, but faster email and phone support would have been nice. We gave this section a rating of 4.25.
