World Cup Betting 2026: It’s Spain vs Argentina in the Final

Both semi-finals are now complete. Spain reached the Final first, beating France 2-0 on July 14 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, and Argentina joined them a day later with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over England on July 15 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta – Anthony Gordon had England ahead until Enzo Fernández equalised in the 85th minute and Lautaro Martínez struck in stoppage time. Spain and Argentina now meet in the Final at MetLife Stadium on July 19. Canada’s own run ended two rounds earlier, beaten 3-0 by Morocco in the Round of 16 on July 4.

France vs Spain – Jul 14, Spain won 2-0, Dallas
England vs Argentina – Jul 15, Argentina won 2-1, Atlanta

France eased into the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Morocco in Boston, Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé scoring either side of the hour mark. Spain edged Belgium 2-1 in Los Angeles as Mikel Merino struck in the 88th minute after Fabián Ruiz and Charles De Ketelaere had cancelled each other out. Jude Bellingham scored twice, including a 93rd-minute winner, as England came from behind to beat Erling Haaland’s Norway 2-1 in Miami. And in the tournament’s standout individual duel, Lionel Messi’s Argentina needed extra time to see off Switzerland 3-1 in Kansas City, Julian Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez scoring either side of Dan Ndoye’s equaliser – with Mbappé and Messi level at the top of the Golden Boot race on eight goals apiece heading into the semi-finals. Mikel Oyarzabal’s 22nd-minute penalty and a Pedro Porro strike in the 58th then gave Spain a 2-0 win over France in the semi-final, sending La Roja through to the Final. England had reached the last four by beating Norway, but their run ended three days later in Atlanta: Anthony Gordon put England ahead in the 55th minute, only for Enzo Fernández to level in the 85th and Lautaro Martínez to complete a stunning Argentina comeback in stoppage time, sending Lionel Messi’s side through 2-1 to face Spain in the Final.
Canada’s World Cup is over. Morocco beat them 3-0 in the Round of 16 on Saturday, July 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, with Azzedine Ounahi scoring twice (50’, 82’) and Soufiane Rahimi adding a third in stoppage time (90+8’). It was Canada’s first-ever Round of 16 appearance at a World Cup, and they were eliminated by the side that reached the semi-finals in 2022. Read our full Canada vs Morocco prediction and best bets.

Canada reached the Round of 16 for the first time in their history. Stephen Eustaquio scored in the 92nd minute at SoFi Stadium on June 28 to beat South Africa 1-0, sending a co-host nation into the knockout stage proper. It was a result built on character; South Africa defended deep and frustrated Canada for 90 minutes before Eustaquio’s composed late finish settled it. Alphonso Davies returned from injury and was on the pitch in Los Angeles. Jonathan David didn’t score but was a constant threat throughout.

Canada arrived at the Round of 32 as Group B runners-up after a 6-0 demolition of Qatar on June 19 (David hat-trick) and a 2-1 loss to Switzerland on June 24. The group stage ended with Switzerland topping Group B on 7 points; Canada qualified with 4. The win over Qatar came at a cost ; Ismaël Koné was stretchered off with a broken leg and his tournament is over.

Canada 1-0 South Africa: Done. 🇨🇦 Morocco 3-0 Canada: Eliminated 🇲🇦

Canada did it. Stephen Eustaquio who had muscle tightness and came off the bench against Switzerland, started against South Africa and scored in the 92nd minute at SoFi Stadium to send the co-hosts through 1-0. Canada reached the Round of 16 for the first time in their history.

South Africa were organised and difficult to break down. They defended deep, frustrated Canada for 90 minutes, but Eustaquio’s composed late finish settled it. Jesse Marsch’s side showed character. Alphonso Davies returned from injury and was on the pitch in Los Angeles. Jonathan David didn’t score but he was a constant threat.

Canada’s Round of 16 dream ended in Houston. Morocco, who had eliminated the Netherlands 1-1 AET (3-2 on pens) in the previous round, shut down Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies for long spells before Azzedine Ounahi’s double either side of a Soufiane Rahimi stoppage-time strike sealed a 3-0 win. The Atlas Lions, semi-finalists at the 2022 World Cup, looked every bit that class again.

A word on the history. Canada played their first World Cup in 1986 in Mexico. They went three games, conceded five, scored none, and went home. They didn’t qualify again until 2022, when they lost all three group games. This is a different team. Jonathan David, Alphonso Davies, Stephen Eustaquio, these are players who start for Juventus, Real Madrid, and Porto. Canada are not at the World Cup to make up the numbers anymore. They proved it on June 28, beating South Africa in the Round of 32.

Canada’s World Cup Winner Odds

Canada national team squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Canada’s remarkable run to the knockout stage has captured the attention of fans across the country, but sportsbooks still view Jesse Marsch’s side as one of the tournament’s biggest outsiders.

Canada beat South Africa 1-0 in the Round of 32, becoming the first time Canada have ever won a knockout match at a World Cup. Outright odds on Canada to win the tournament shortened as far as 51.00-75.00 at offshore sportsbooks heading into the Round of 16, down from the 101.00 pre-tournament price, before Morocco ended the run 3-0 on July 4.

Bookmakers had heavily favoured France, Spain, England, Argentina and Brazil throughout the tournament; of that group, only Spain and Argentina remain, meeting in the July 19 Final. Canada’s tournament is over, but Jonathan David’s three goals and Stephen Eustaquio’s Round of 32 winner leave them with a knockout-stage run worth remembering. Stage-of-elimination markets on Canada are now settled; David remains a name to watch in the Golden Boot race.

Round of 16 Matches Review

Canada 0-3 Morocco (Jul 4, Houston) — Canada’s World Cup run ended in Houston as Morocco pulled away in the second half. Azzedine Ounahi struck twice either side of a stoppage-time Soufiane Rahimi finish, sealing a 3-0 win and a quarter-final date with France.

Paraguay 0-1 France (Jul 4, Philadelphia) — France needed just one moment of quality to get past a stubborn Paraguay side, with Kylian Mbappé converting a 70th-minute penalty for a narrow 1-0 win that books Les Bleus a quarter-final meeting with Morocco.

Brazil 1-2 Norway (Jul 5, East Rutherford) — Erling Haaland delivered the biggest shock of the round, scoring twice late on to send the five-time champions out in the last 16 for the first time since 1990. Norway now face England in the quarters.

Mexico 2-3 England (Jul 5-6, Mexico City) — Jude Bellingham scored either side of half-time and Harry Kane added a penalty as England fought off a late Mexico fightback to win 3-2 at the Estadio Azteca, setting up a quarter-final against Norway.

Portugal 0-1 Spain (Jul 6, Dallas) – Mikel Merino struck in the first minute of second-half stoppage time to send Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal home, sealing a 1-0 win and a quarter-final meeting with Belgium.

USA 1-4 Belgium (Jul 6, Seattle) – Charles De Ketelaere scored twice before half-time and Belgium pulled away in the second half, eliminating the co-host nation 4-1 and setting up a quarter-final against Spain.

Egypt 2-3 Argentina (Jul 7, Atlanta) – Egypt led 2-0 through Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Zico, but Cristian Romero, Lionel Messi and a stoppage-time Enzo Fernández header turned the game on its head. Argentina move on to face Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

Switzerland 0-0 Colombia (Jul 7, Vancouver, AET) – A tight, goalless 120 minutes went to penalties, where Switzerland held their nerve to win 4-3 and set up a quarter-final against Argentina.

How to Bet on the FIFA World Cup 2026

You’ve bet on hockey. You’ve had a parlay riding on an NHL playoff game at midnight. But FIFA betting on a 48-team soccer tournament that runs six weeks across three countries is a different exercise. Here’s how to approach it.

How to bet on the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada - odds, markets and strategy guide
World Cup 2026 betting in Canada

Understanding the Odds

Decimal odds are the Canadian default, and every offshore sportsbook worth using will display them that way. The number tells you what you get back per dollar wagered, including your stake. Odds of 3.00 on France means a $10 CAD bet returns $30 CAD total, $20 profit.

To convert to implied probability, divide 1 by the odds. France at 5.90 implies roughly a 17% chance. That’s the number that matters for value.

As of the time of writing, the world cup outright market has narrowed to the two Finalists: Spain is favourite at roughly 1.55-1.75, with Argentina priced around 2.20-2.50 to lift the trophy on July 19. Every other team, including France, England, Portugal, Brazil, Belgium, Morocco, Switzerland and Norway, has now been eliminated, along with Germany and the Netherlands in the Round of 32.

Line shopping matters more for Canadians than it does for UK or US bettors. The offshore market is fragmented, with no single dominant book setting the line. The same bet can sit at 6.00 on one platform and 6.50 on another. Open accounts at two or three offshore sportsbooks before the tournament starts.

Most Popular Markets

1

Outright Winner

The futures market. Pick the tournament winner before kick-off – or at any point while the tournament is still live. With the Final field now set, Spain are the clear favourite at 1.55-1.75 after beating France 2-0 in the semi-final, while Argentina, who came from behind to beat England 2-1, follow at 2.20-2.50 to lift the trophy on July 19.

2

Match Result (1X2)

Home/away/draw on every group stage match. Clean, simple, and the markets are deep at every offshore book.

3

Two-Way Moneyline

Draw refunded (common at North American offshore sportsbooks). If the match ends level, your stake comes back. Shorter odds on favourites is the tradeoff.

4

Over/Under Goals

Where most people leave money on the table. The group stage tends to go under, especially in the first round of matches. Lean under early.

5

Both Teams to Score

A solid complement to match result markets. In knockout rounds where you’re projecting open play, BTTS pays better than the straight match result.

6

Player Props

Where serious bettors build their edge. Tournament top goalscorer, anytime goalscorer, player to score 2+ in a single game.

7

Group Winner / Qualifier

A cleaner way to play teams you trust. Pick one team to finish top of their group, or just to advance. Less upside than outright, much better hit rate.

8

Stage of Elimination

The overlooked value market. You’re betting on how far a team goes. If you believe Morocco reach the semis but don’t want to back them outright, this market prices that story correctly.

Strategy & Tips

World Cup Betting Tips for Canadian Bettors

Set your tournament bankroll for the full six weeks and stick to it. Don’t blow 40% of it on group stage parlays in the first week. Protect your bankroll for the knockout rounds when you have more information.

The travel factor is real and most bettors aren’t pricing it. A team in 2026 could play in Vancouver, then fly to Mexico City for their second match, a 2,800-kilometre trip between two of the most contrasting climates in the tournament.

Live betting rewards patient bettors. A 0-0 match in the 60th minute with both sides flat will see the draw price compress and the over price lengthen. If you’ve done the homework, the live market hands you a better number than the pre-match line.

Bonuses and Promotions

Worth taking seriously: enhanced welcome offers timed to the tournament opener, profit boosts on Canada’s group stage matches, parlay insurance on four-leg or more accumulators, and free bets when a pre-match winner gets overturned by a late goal. These are some of the best reasons to bet on the World Cup through an offshore book rather than a provincial site.

Futures

FIFA World Cup 2026 Odds: Outright Betting Guide

Outright betting means picking an outcome before the tournament starts, or at any point while it’s still live. The price reflects implied probability. Spain at 5.50 implies roughly an 18% chance of winning. That’s your baseline for assessing value.

Tournament Winner

With the Final now set, the outright market has narrowed to two teams. Spain (1.55-1.75) reached the Final by beating France 2-0 in Dallas on July 14, after France had beaten Morocco 2-0 in the quarter-finals. Argentina (2.20-2.50) joined them by coming from behind to beat England 2-1 in Atlanta on July 15, having beaten Switzerland 3-1 after extra time in the quarter-finals. Brazil and England, both among the pre-tournament favourites, are out; defending champions Argentina remain alive, with Lionel Messi still level with Kylian Mbappé atop the Golden Boot race.

Golden Boot

The most volatile outright market at any World Cup, and it’s now a two-horse race after the quarter-finals. Kylian Mbappé’s brace against Sweden in the Round of 32 put him level with Lionel Messi, and both strikers have stayed locked together since Mbappé scoring in France’s 2-0 quarter-final win over Morocco, while Messi’s Argentina reached the semi-finals without him finding the net in a 3-1 extra-time win over Switzerland. Mbappé and Messi now sit tied at the top of the Golden Boot race on eight goals apiece, with Erling Haaland’s tournament ending on seven after Norway’s quarter-final exit to England. Both stayed on eight through the semi-finals: Mbappé was kept off the scoresheet as France fell to Spain, though France’s third-place playoff against England on July 18 gives him one last game to add to his tally, while Messi also drew a blank as Argentina beat England 2-1, leaving only the July 19 Final for him to break the tie. Jonathan David’s Golden Boot run is over Canada were eliminated by Morocco in the Round of 16 but his three goals still stand as one of the best World Cup showings by a Canadian forward.

  • Kylian Mbappé (France) 8 goals
  • Lionel Messi (Argentina) 8 goals
  • Erling Haaland (Norway) 7 goals
  • Jude Bellingham (England) 6 goals
  • Harry Kane (England) 6 goals
  • Ousmane Dembélé (France) 5 goals
  • Jonathan David (Canada) 3 goals 🇨🇦

CANADA ROUND OF 16 ODDS

All Canada-specific outright and stage-of-elimination markets are now settled.

Our Calls

Our World Cup 2026 Predictions

Ten predictions from our desk, with a heavy Canadian accent. The bracket and the bankroll permitting, this is how we’d play it.

Tournament Winner

Spain

Spain have been ruthless in the knockouts: past Portugal in the Round of 16, a 2-1 win over Belgium in the quarter-finals, and then a statement 2-0 win over France in the semi-final – Mikel Oyarzabal’s penalty and a Pedro Porro strike sending La Roja through to the Final at MetLife Stadium on July 19. They now know their opponent: Argentina, who came from behind to beat England 2-1 in Atlanta. Having eliminated the tournament favourites along the way, Spain are the value pick to lift the trophy.

Confidence

High

Golden Boot

Lionel Messi

Mbappé’s brace against Sweden was the first sign he was catching Messi, and the two men have stayed level on eight goals apiece ever since. Mbappé was kept off the scoresheet as France went out 2-0 to Spain, leaving only France’s third-place playoff against England on July 18 for him to add to his tally. Messi was also kept quiet as Argentina fought back to beat England 2-1, so it now comes down to the Final on July 19 – his last chance to break the tie and finish as outright top scorer.

Confidence

High

Dark Horse · Reached Quarter-finals

Morocco

They did it in 2022, and they very nearly did it again. Morocco knocked out the Netherlands on penalties, then beat Canada 3-0 in the Round of 16 – but the run ended in the quarter-finals, beaten 2-0 by France in Boston. Achraf Hakimi and Mazraoui’s defensive spine held for six matches, one short of matching the run to the semis in 2022.

🇨🇦 How Far Canada Goes

Eliminated in the Round of 16

Canada faced Morocco in the Round of 16 on July 4 in Houston (NRG Stadium) and lost 3-0. They’d beaten South Africa 1-0 in the Round of 32 (Eustaquio 90+2’) and before that demolished Qatar 6-0 (David hat-trick), but Morocco’s defence held firm before Azzedine Ounahi’s second-half double and a stoppage-time Rahimi goal ended the run. We backed Canada to reach the quarter-finals they didn’t get there, but a first-ever Round of 16 appearance is still the best World Cup in program history.

Wild Card

4+ Group-Stage Upsets

Called it. Ecuador knocked out Germany in the groups. Cabo Verde held Spain to a draw. Paraguay are in the Round of 16 after stunning Germany on penalties. The tournament’s expanded format is doing exactly what we said it would creating chaos, giving underdogs a foothold, and making every match dangerous.

🇨🇦 Group B Finish

Canada to Top the Group

Switzerland topped Group B after beating Canada 2-1 on June 24. Canada qualified as runners-up with 4 points, while Bosnia and Herzegovina (3rd, 4 pts) and Qatar (4th, 1 pt) are eliminated.

Confidence

High

🇨🇦 Player to Watch

Jonathan David

Fresh off a record-equalling hat-trick against Qatar, David is the man in form and Canada’s focal point in attack. As long as the Canadians keep advancing, he is firmly in the conversation for a deep Golden Boot run and is our pick for Canada’s top scorer.

Group B Decider · Jun 24

Switzerland vs Canada: Draw

Switzerland won 2-1. Ruben Vargas (46′) and Johan Manzambi (57′) scored for Switzerland; Jonathan David pulled one back (76′). Switzerland top Group B with 7 points; Canada advance as runners-up with 4.

🇨🇦 Home Advantage

Vancouver Lifts Canada

Canada finished as Group B runners-up, then beat South Africa 1-0 in Los Angeles (Eustaquio 90+2’) to reach the Round of 16. Playing away from Vancouver hasn’t stopped them. The golden generation – David, Davies, Eustaquio – delivered on the biggest stage.

Common Questions

World Cup 2026 Betting: Frequently Asked Questions

The tournament kicks off June 11, 2026 in Mexico City and ends with the final on July 19, 2026 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

No Canada’s tournament ended in the Round of 16. Morocco beat them 3-0 on July 4 in Houston, a result built on two Azzedine Ounahi goals and a stoppage-time third from Soufiane Rahimi. Still, this was the best World Cup in program history: Canada’s first-ever knockout win (1-0 over South Africa) and first-ever Round of 16 appearance, powered by Jonathan David, Alphonso Davies and Stephen Eustaquio. All Canada-specific outright and stage-of-elimination markets are now settled.

Provincial regulated options exist: PROLINE+ in Ontario, PlayNow in B.C., Mise-o-jeu in Québec. Offshore sportsbooks are also widely used for FIFA betting Canada – and that’s where most of our recommended books sit. We’re not lawyers and this isn’t legal advice. The bookmakers we recommend at the top of this page are where we direct Canadian bettors.

No. 2026 is the first time Canada has hosted any FIFA World Cup matches. The country has only previously played at the World Cup in 1986 (Mexico) and 2022 (Qatar).

Offshore sportsbooks dominate FIFA betting Canada because they offer more World Cup-specific markets than the provincial options – outright winners, golden boot, group qualifiers, and live in-play odds on every match. Our top-ranked sites for the 2026 tournament are Betovo, Zoccer, Betway, Tonybet, and Sports Interaction, all reviewed and ranked above.

With Canada eliminated and the Final field now set, the highest-value FIFA bets have shifted to the Spain vs Argentina title match on July 19: outright winner odds, the match result (1X2) market, and Golden Boot props on Mbappé and Messi, who remain tied on eight goals apiece. Check our live odds table above for current pricing before lines move.

You can place a FIFA bet through any of our recommended sportsbooks, all of which accept Canadian bettors and offer CAD-friendly deposits. Each book on our list covers the full range of World Cup 2026 markets, from match winners to outright tournament odds.

Odds shift fast around a World Cup Final, so we recommend comparing live lines across our top-ranked books rather than locking in early. With Spain through after a 2-0 win over France, and Argentina completing the pairing with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over England on July 15, our odds section above updates regularly as lines move ahead of the July 19 Final.
