Spain enter this tournament as one of the tournament favourites after dominating UEFA qualifying without a loss. Their 4-3-3 built on Pedri‘s passing lanes and Yamal’s dribbling on the right flank is the most technically refined system in the tournament. Morata leads the line but it is Olmo dropping into the half-space that creates the overloads. Their press is so well-drilled that opposition teams frequently give the ball away in dangerous zones within their own half. Against Saudi Arabia, who will park two defensive banks, Spain will need patience — but their quality in the final third is simply too high to be denied for 90 minutes. Why this matters: the -2.5 handicap at ~1.65 is the market acknowledging a big win is expected.
Saudi Arabia shocked Argentina in 2022 but Herve Renard is gone and the cohesion of that team has been replaced by a more pragmatic approach. Mohammed Al-Owais in goal is excellent and their back four drops to a defensive line 25 metres from goal. The threat comes through Al-Dawsari’s pace on the counter — if he catches Spain’s fullbacks high up the pitch, they can threaten. But this Spain side is tactically mature and Carvajal rarely gets caught. Saudi Arabia need Spain to be impatient or play two many square passes — and Luis de la Fuente has coached that tendency out of this group. Why this matters: Saudi Arabia covering a -2 spread is the key market question.
Spain’s positional superiority will be overwhelming. Pedri and Rodri will completely own the midfield zone, and once Yamal isolates Saudi Arabia’s left back, the crosses will come in waves. Saudi Arabia can frustrate for the first 20 minutes but the goals will arrive. Spain -2 handicap at ~1.65 is the premium selection — a three-goal winning margin is the most probable outcome.
