Fan Week runs from August 23 to August 29, the seven days immediately before competition proper. Set betting. Once matches begin, you can bet the exact scoreline in sets, such as 3-1 or 3-0. Men’s matches are best-of-five and women’s are best-of-three, which changes the shape of this market completely between the two draws.
Match handicaps. Games handicaps and set handicaps let you back a favourite while giving the underdog a head start, or take an underdog with a cushion. On a fast hard court where serve holds are common, games handicaps are usually the more liquid of the two.
Total games. Over or under a set number of games in a match. Surface speed is the main driver: quick courts produce more holds, more tiebreaks and, in best-of-five, plenty of long matches that clear the number.
Other futures. Depending on the book you will also find reach-the-final, reach-the-semi-final, top nationality and quarter-of-the-draw markets. Most of those last ones only go up after August 27.
Practical Guidance for Canadian Bettors
Three things are worth doing before you place anything. First, shop the outright price across multiple books, because tennis futures margins are wide and the gap between the best and worst price on the same player is routinely larger than it is on a hockey moneyline. Second, decide whether you actually want to be in before the draw. Backing pre-draw gets you the bigger number, but you are buying blind on the bracket. Waiting until Thursday costs you value on the favourites and occasionally hands you value on someone who lands in a soft section. Third, understand your each-way terms in full before staking, since a place term of “final only” and a place term of “semi-final” are completely different bets.
